Dr Imelda Namagembe

Imelda Namagembe, MBChB MMed (Mak) MPH (CWRU), is a consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist at Mulago National Referral and Teaching Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at School of Medicine, Makerere University College of Health Sciences. For her PhD she will focus on improving maternal outcomes using confidential enquiry into deaths as an add on to maternal death surveillance in a busy African Hospital: A case study of Mulago Hospital, Uganda. Her main areas of interest include strengthening research, service delivery in obstetrics and gynecology; training health workers reproductive health issues with emphasis to emergency maternal fetal medicine. She is also interested in prevention and treatment of cervical cancer, prevention of obstetric fistulae, treatment and prevention of STIs/HIV, promoting family planning and addressing issues of gender-based violence.
