Research title: Identification of human host receptors for Plasmodium falciparum gametocytes

Research project: The project uses a mammalian expression system to express 17 gametocyte expression plasmids. After successful expression and purification of these proteins, she uses avidity based extracellular interaction screening (AVEXIS) to identify human receptors for the gametocyte ligands. This then paves the way for the identification of new transmission blocking targets to aid in the malaria elimination agenda.
