Research title: Determinants of Income Mobility and its impact on Welfare in Uganda.

Research project: The study will analyse the patterns of income mobility, determinants of income mobility and its impact on welfare using household panel data collected by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBoS) . The study will be complemented with primary data to validate key parameters. Uganda has released five waves of household panel data which started with a baseline panel wave in 2005/06 and subsequent panel waves have been released for 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2013/14. The Uganda National Household Surveys (UNPS) are multi-topic panel surveys with a nationally representative sample that collected data on five modules: socio-economic (household), community, women, agriculture and market. The baseline wave collected data from 3,123 households which were tracked in the subsequent waves. This study will mainly use data from the socio-economic module of the survey which contains data on labour market variables, individual and household demographics, household expenditure (consumption), asset ownership, education and health status.
