Cambridge-Africa

Cambridge-Africa Governance

The Cambridge-Africa Programme coordinates the University of Cambridge’s research capacity-building and collaborative activities in Africa. It therefore has a Steering Group (CASG) that represents the breadth of disciplines, Departments, Faculties and Schools involved in the University of Cambridge's current and future research collaborations with African universities and institutes. Cambridge-Africa also has an Advisory Group (CAAG) to support the CASG.

The CASG is responsible for managing Cambridge cross-faculty resources to support African research strengthening and career development. This Group works in collaboration with the Departments and Faculty Boards concerned to identify and advise on research collaborations with African partners. Members serve for a one-year term (renewable) and meet three times each year.

The CAAG supports and advises the CASG in matters related to the University of Cambridge’s African engagement. It acts as a conduit in identifying new University initiatives and proposals regarding Africa, and ensures that these are incorporated into the CAAG’s overview. The CAAG also identifies new projects in Cambridge Departments, Faculties and Schools, and brings them to the attention of the CASG. Members serve for a three-year term (renewable) and meet twice each year.

The CASG and CAAG consist of the following members:
